Advice, please

What do you need for the affirmation/affidavit to get married at the US Embassy in the Philippines?

Hi everyone! American citizen here. I have an appointment at the US Embassy in the Philippines to get the Affidavit of Legal Capacity to Marry (Affirmation), but apart from the appointment, I can't find a complete list of what's required.

I'm divorced, and right now I have a scanned copy of my divorce decree/certificate.

For those who've gone through this recently, what documents did you bring, especially if you're divorced? Did you need the original divorce decree, or was a copy enough?
Any recent experiences or advice would be much appreciated. Thank you!

You don't need to go to the Embassy: FYI: Affidavit of Legal Capacity to Contract Marriage: The US government does not keep marriage records and cannot issue certificates of a US citizen's legal capacity to marry. However, it can notarize a citizen's own statement of their legal capacity as an ordinary affidavit.

What they want is the equivalent of a CENOMAR (certificate of no marriage), but the US doesn't keep track of that. What you need is your passport, the original or a certified copy of your divorce decree, and the notary fee. Basically you're notarizing a self-sworn statement that you have the capacity to marry.

I just printed my divorce PDF and went to the consulate in Cebu on my appointment date and time. I signed the statement in front of a consular officer, and he notarized it. Done and dusted.
