Why do condos make a fuss about digital IDs?
Why does the front desk at my condo have a problem every time my visitors show a digital ID?
What can I do if the front desk turns away a visitor who came from far away and shows a digital ID?
Not sure about your condo specifically, but mine takes the ID as a kind of collateral for the visitor pass, just in case there's a problem while they're here. Maybe you could talk to the admin/building board about a process where they take a copy of the digital ID and hold something else, like a bank card, as collateral (though I wouldn't want to do that myself)
It's just for show. People can fake IDs. I don't see the point of this BS. If you walk in like you live there, nobody stops you at these condos. It's just a hassle and an invasion of privacy.
I just meet them outside the complex and walk them in with me. I'm nice to the guards and desk staff, and they've never asked me anything.
A lot of people don't have a physical national ID card, and it can take years to get one. But most probably have a Postal ID. You could also have it printed and laminated at a print shop. Or you could challenge the guard and ask how he can reject a government-issued national online ID. Make him explain how he can reject an official government digital document. Then ask for the OIC, the officer in charge.
The bigger problem is the 'sign-in' book, where girls can see if you've had multiple female visitors. 😕 Not a big deal unless each of them believes she's your partner. 😄
