How do you all handle being treated like a mini celebrity in the Philippines?
It happens to me all the time. People are pretty curious about me, and since I come from a respectable family and I'm fortunate, when they talk to me they're surprised at how well educated I am.
You forgot to mention you're also very humble
It's nice when it works in your favor, but I'd rather blend in and not be stared at constantly everywhere I go. It's not as bad in Makati/BGC, but I've found it's worse throughout the provinces. Being over 6 feet tall doesn't help either. More often than not, the attention a foreigner gets here in the Philippines is positive and leads to pleasant interactions. Still, I'm just uncomfortable being stared at that much.
I'm blond with bright blue eyes, so I get a lot of attention. Just be yourself and accept that you're not much different from a zoo animal. People like to look, but that doesn't mean they want to jump into your cage. Be friendly and humble. Sometimes I just look down to avoid the stares. It's not that it makes me uncomfortable, but I can't help acknowledging anyone who makes eye contact with me. That gets tiring, and it's not the best idea when your woman is beside you.
Being sized up isn't the same as being celebrated like a K-drama star or a rock star. Not sure about your case, just saying. - Which country are you from? (How much you probably earn) - Where do you live? (How much you probably spend, and where) - You're so handsome! (How easy you are to manipulate) 🤣🤣🤣
“Can I take a picture with you?” is something new for me. Kids often run up to me and compare me to people I look nothing like 🤣. Everywhere I go, people whisper the name of a famous basketball player. It's not unusual for me to walk into a club and hear security or others say that celebrity's name as I come in.
