I'm surprised Manila wasn't the one called “Bangkok” — the Philippines is one of the gayest countries out there.

It's pretty rampant here. Anecdotal, but I studied at one of the top — maybe the top — aviation colleges in the Philippines. My friends and I were sexually harassed there more times than I can count. We just brushed it off as harmless little things and never made a fuss. If it had been female students in our place with male teachers, chances are something would have been done. If you were light brown (India/Pakistan-type) or white, you'd get comments, unwanted touching, stares, lots of invites to events and parties, and a boatload of favors just for chatting nicely with them. The list includes the former dean of the college, who's since passed away. My current “bang maid” says her ex got into college because a gay university employee (not sure if a teacher or not) took him under their wing — picking him up and dropping him off from high school, basketball games, coffee meetups, etc. It rarely gets complained about or reported here, and it gets swept under the rug even more easily. Now that people are ready to start filming on their phones at a moment's notice, things may change for the better.
