REDDIT REVEALS NBI AND PNP TRIED TO GET POSTS ON GOVERNMENT CORRUPTION TAKEN DOWN In its transparency report for July to December 2025, Reddit said the Philippine government tried to have several posts removed from its social media platform. According to the report, Reddit received 12 removal requests from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) seeking the deletion of 74 posts. Reddit said it did not remove the posts, which reportedly contained allegations against certain government officials and well-known personalities. Reddit stressed that it does not take down content criticizing public figures or alleging corruption. “None of the reported content was removed, as there were no Reddit Rules violations and the content consisted of criticism of public figures, claims of their involvement in corruption, and general commentary on newsworthy events,” Reddit said. Reddit is currently under threat after the government demanded it set up an office in the Philippines or face a halt to its operations in the country.
Corruption in the Philippines isn't just about money; it's also the corruption of democratic values. Senior government leaders chip away at basic human rights like ordinary citizens' free speech whenever they see it as a threat to their hold on power..
Some politicians have already proposed investigating Facebook and possibly banning it in the country. Probably for the same reason.
What were those posts? Can we find out which ones?
Marcos Sr.'s version ran longer and more centralized under a dictatorship, and produced the famous family fortune. The Bongbong Marcos version surfaced faster, under scrutiny and social media, producing a highly visible scandal with measurable losses in the trillions and political damage in under five years.
Terrible look for the administration
They're going to kick Reddit out like it's a senator siding with Duterte.
