What's Boracay like?

My girlfriend and I are thinking of moving to Boracay in December for 1 to 3 months, maybe longer. We found a place to rent up north, near Diniwid Beach or whatever it's called.

What's it like there? We're pretty laid-back. Will it get boring? Any info at all is appreciated.

We've been traveling for about the last year and want to slow down a bit. The Philippines is a good option for us for visa and tax reasons.

A week is plenty

Boracay is a tourist spot for a week at most. In 10 days you'll have seen and explored everything. Also, prices are really high. The number of visitors to the island is capped. The island is tiny. Three months there? I wouldn't recommend it. Especially if you've never been. My advice: go for a week and see how you feel.

Worst spot in PH

For me, the worst place in PH. Overrated, expensive, and swarming with people trying to sell you things all the time.

Go elsewhere instead

For 1 to 3 months I'd suggest Siargao instead of Boracay. Boracay is a party spot for a week, max. Personally I also really like El Nido (Palawan), but I feel Siargao, especially General Luna, is a bit better set up for travelers, with nice gyms and great coffee shops.

Boracay back then

I visited Boracay a few times a long time ago, before Duterte came to power. Even then it was overrated and overpriced. There were LOTS of foreigners. Almost every Filipino I knew wanted to go there to take selfies with foreigners and brag to their friends, neighbors, coworkers and classmates. If you enjoy being around fellow foreigners, Boracay could be a good option for you. It has a nice sandy beach. Most locals are very friendly and polite to Kanos (Americans).

Fun to visit

Top-tier beach. Fun to go and party. Cheap for what you get compared to similar beaches in other countries, but not cheap by Philippine standards. Could I chill at a resort there for a month? Sure. Would I want to live there? Probably not. But it's fun to visit.
