Left the Philippines for home and I really HATE it

Hi everyone,

I just moved back home from the Philippines and I hate it.

(1) Housing is insanely expensive. Even a tiny one-bedroom condo is $2,500 a month. Utilities extra, and no furniture.

(2) In the Philippines I ordered delivery once or twice EVERY day. Here I ordered once on Uber Eats and it came to $50 with the tip. The food was cold and disappointing. There's no way I can do that every day.

(3) People are depressed and stressed out by the cost of living. Everyone seems unhappy.

(4) For the first time in ages I have to check the price of everything. One Uber ride — $40. Coffee and a bagel — $8. Lord, have mercy on my wallet.

Yes, the infrastructure is nicer… but I really hate these prices.

I'm back in the US to finish some long-term visa stuff plus work and medical things. I just landed and I already want to leave.

Why did you move back? I'm 99% sure I'm moving to the Philippines early next year.

I don't like going back. Evenings in the Philippines are amazing — nothing like being stuck indoors in the US in the middle of winter.

I grew up in the Philippines and lived there for 23 years. I moved to the US and never looked back. I never want to go back and live in the Philippines. Honestly, life in the US is only bad if you don't have money — and it's the same in the Philippines. It always comes down to money. If you earn well, the US is where it's at. I love it here.

Where did you move back to? I feel the same every time I make a long visit home to Sydney. I hate the place. Everyone's so busy paying off their mortgage that anything resembling a soul has left their body. For what it's worth, my Uber from the airport to home is about $100 lol. It's about $7 here in Manila.

'I made a single takeout order.. $50 after the tip' And why the hell would you tip? That's your problem — you didn't have to. Drop the American tipping mindset like a bad habit

Imagine complaining while people live in poverty. I'm sure plenty of Filipinos would be happy to afford $8 bagels. It's always white people making these posts
