Air conditioners in the Philippines are often installed poorly, which can make them the biggest driver of your electricity bill. If you're renting, you might also consider buying a newer, more efficient AC unit that you can take with you later. Of course, it depends on the type of AC in your rental, but if it's easy to do, it's worth considering. Check out this cheat sheet I made for the Building Paradise - Philippines group.
Even the certified professionals don't care. They don't seal the gaps around the AC unit; they just stuff cardboard or the Styrofoam that came in the AC box into the gaps. They skip the support brackets too.
I've seen plenty of shoddy installation work in the US too. I did HVAC for 35 years before I retired.
Most people don't have this kind of technical eye. The best way to avoid a sloppy installation is to use a reputable installer.
Because it was installed wrong... and because this country is hard to live in lol
