Feel Health YAKAP Program
Are there any foreigners who have enrolled in the YAKAP program? How did you choose a medical institution, and how did you sign up? For those who are actually using it, are you satisfied? Thank you 🙏
You can choose any hospital in the program that's close to where you live. I use it every year for free checkups and free prescription medicine. However, to fully enroll, you have to go in person and get your first checkup at the hospital you picked, and the doctor needs to enter all the results into the YAKAP online system. For prescriptions, the doctor has to prescribe the medicine, enter it into the system, and generate a QR code, which you then use to get free medicine at participating YAKAP pharmacies. If any one of these isn't done properly, they won't cover the cost. Since it's a new program, many staff members aren't sure how it works yet, so be sure to communicate with the doctors and staff. Also: YAKAP is basically for outpatient care, while PhilHealth covers some minor outpatient procedures and all inpatient procedures.
I registered for a YAKAP clinic online and went to the hospital, but I was turned down because foreigners can't use YAKAP. They said there was a system error. So I gave up. For us, the Maxicare and Allianz plans are the best options.
I registered online and was assigned the hospital closest to my home. I went there to register, and they confirmed that foreigners are allowed too. I haven't gone further yet, but they told me to renew my PhilHealth card and get a basic checkup from a doctor as the first step. They said you need a lot of patience. There's only one time slot per week, and the line is really long starting early in the morning... I'll do it, but just thinking about it isn't exactly fun 😂
On top of the 17,000 pesos I already pay every year, how much does YAKAP cost extra?
