The Pasig Metropolitan Trial Court Branch 153 has dismissed the slight physical injuries case against viral police rider PSSG Erwin Laguea, following the complainant John Vincent Cayanes' withdrawal of his complaint against the police officer.
You may remember that the incident went viral after the officer was reported to have pushed the complainant, but the full video later showed that it was actually the complainant who chased after the officer while the officer was trying to avoid him.
The complainant voluntarily submitted an affidavit of desistance, saying that the complaint he filed was merely the result of a misunderstanding.
Earlier, the PNP had charged Laguea with attempted homicide, but the Pasig City Prosecutor's Office dismissed it, and Laguea was charged only with slight physical injuries.
The lawyers' group Lawyers for Commuters Safety and Protection (LCSP) assisted Laguea, and LCSP founder Atty. Ariel Inton personally took on Laguea's defense.
The one who got shoved was a Kamote anyway. Abusive power vs. a Kamote. Fuck, there's no winner here lol
Looks like they got out of the criminal case, but the administrative case isn't over yet. As I recall, the cops who handled this case got suspended by Napolcom because they were charged with a 'downgraded' offense.
I hate violent cops, but in this case I don't think the cop abused his power. The 'victim' provoked him several times. He was aiming for the cop to react from the start.
It's supposed to be the provincial prosecutor who files the case, not the victim himself.
