Pampanga Police Provincial Office Urges Vigilance Against Theft — Tips on Safeguarding Valuables and Reporting

📌 On Thursday, November 5, the Pampanga Police Provincial Office (Pampanga PPO) urged residents on its official Facebook page to always stay alert and protect themselves and their property to prevent theft. It also shared tips on what to do if you are a victim or witness, as well as the standards for punishing theft.

■ Police Advisory
· Keep valuables such as cellphones and wallets safe, and do not leave belongings in your car or in public places when you step away.
· Make sure to lock the doors of your home, shop, and vehicle, and watch out for suspicious activity around you.
· If you are robbed or witness a theft, do not confront the suspect if it is dangerous; instead, note the time, place, and description of the suspect and report it immediately to the nearest police station.

■ Penalty Standards
· The police explained that theft is a crime punishable under Articles 308 and 309 of the Revised Penal Code (as amended by RA 10951), and that the penalty varies depending on the value of the stolen items and the specific circumstances.
· They also added that people should not mistakenly believe that every theft is punished with a severe sentence such as life imprisonment.

■ Notes for Residents and Travelers
· In crowded places such as shopping malls, markets, and terminals, carry your bag in front of your body and do not put your cellphone in your back pocket.
· If you become a victim in Pampanga, including Angeles and Clark, notify 911 or the nearest police station right away.
