Norman Macdonald gets a 9/11 joke from a fan at the airport
If you make Norman laugh, that'd probably be a lifetime highlight.
Now all that'll come back is that dead silence, I guess.
Norman would've loved this lol
The moment you catch what he's saying, the reaction is just the best. Norman was the real deal.
But the Muslim Brotherhood didn't condemn it! /s
I heard that when Norman found out he only had a few weeks left, he booked a ton of Las Vegas shows for the next year. I really hope that's true.
Speaking of 9/11, that tragedy comes to mind
I don't think I get it.
Norman's "What?" was about the idea of giving up Canadian citizenship because of 9/11. It made no sense. But the person filming jokingly read that "What?" as Norman not knowing what 9/11 was, and that's funny because it's a massive event everyone knows about. Norman did a similar bit on his podcast.
Could someone explain this joke for me...? Maybe I'm just dense
In the bit with Andy Dick (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_oFrxlYNMM), Norman brings up an old joke tied to Johnny Carson's 9-1-1 sketch, and he deliberately calls it "9-11." When Andy Dick corrects him with "You mean 9-1-1, right?", Norman replies, "Yes... but 9-11 was a national tragedy." Andy chuckles at the obvious wordplay, but Norman smoothly turns it around, acting like he was mocking 9/11 rather than making a funny remark himself. "Why is that funny?" he asks. It seems like Norman's favorite style of comedy was getting someone to laugh at something, then framing it as them mocking 9/11 rather than their own funny line. He had more 9/11-themed material and loved playing with it, but this one is especially funny and memorable to me. So it really hit home when a fan made a joke in the exact same style to Norman this time.
