I'd appreciate some help listing what I need to leave the country. I have an ACR card, but the system isn't recognizing the card number (it expires November 3). My last entry was in March, stamped at Balibago. At the Iloilo immigration office, they said I only need to show my passport with the Balibago stamp. I'm trying to fill out the ECC paperwork for re-entry after I leave, but I can't do it without a valid ACR card. Leaving this country always feels overwhelming. I'll be going to the US for a short trip and will be coming back soon.

If you have the Balikbayan stamp, you don't need an ECC. That only applies if you've stayed more than 12 months, and that's only possible by extending your Balikbayan visa.

From my experience, here's what I can say for certain: 1. I entered the Philippines in June 2025. 2. I got my ACR-I card in August 2025. 3. I got married to my wife in December 2025. 4. In January, I left Clark for Thailand on our honeymoon. I had to get an ECC-A before departing. 5. When I came back from Thailand in early February 2026 with my marriage certificate, I got a Balikbayan visa and a stamp in my passport. 6. In August 2026, I left for Manila. It was a little over six months after I returned from Thailand, and I didn't get an ECC before leaving. My ACR-I card expired a few days before departure. Passing through the airport immigration e-gates, I had no penalties and no surprises. I scanned my passport, the gate opened, and I boarded the plane. From June 2025 to January 2026, I created a GCash account, got my driver's license, bought a new car, and before going to Thailand, I opened both a joint peso and dollar account at BDO. I think it was lucky that I managed to do all of this at just the right times. After I returned on September 12, once the visa-free period ended, I had to go to immigration for my first 2-month visa extension and get a new ACR-I card. There was no fine for the expired previous card. In total I paid 5,660 pesos. I've heard some people paid more, but I went when I had more than two weeks left on my visa-free period and applied for regular processing, paying the expedite fee only once. Next Wednesday I'm going to pick up my passport and new ACR-I card. I plan to go to Vietnam with my wife and will use the Balikbayan visa privilege again.

If you come back without your wife, you won't get the Balikbayan privilege and you'll have to start over with a tourist visa.

If you're on a BB (Balikbayan), you don't need an ACR card, and when I was here on BB, I never needed an ECC. I'm not sure if anything has changed! Right now I'm on 13a, so I need an ECC.
