Moving a Sleeping Baby
Later my kids confessed that every time I carried them out of the car and into the house, they were actually awake the whole time. They just wanted to be carried. I got totally played. Still gotta admit, that's some skill.
If they're easy to carry, I'd fall for it too. Whether they're pretending to be quiet or actually quiet, I'm fine with either one!
We went through this too, when one of our daughters was about thirteen. We were driving back late at night, and when I opened the van's sliding door, I could see she was just starting to wake up. So I told my wife, "Shh... she's still asleep, look," and put on an act. My daughter kept pretending to sleep too, and I hauled her out of the car and carried her inside. I'm pretty sure both of them were giggling a bit the whole way. That was the last time I carried my daughter out of the car. ;(
"Pretending to be quiet" "Actually being quiet" Kids don't realize these are the same thing.
I'm Vietnamese, and this dad's whispered lines go something like, "The baby's already asleep, don't make noise, turn on the AC so she doesn't get hot."
I can't stop laughing lol! He sounds so determined to get the baby to sleep!
Poor dad, he looks so stressed.
I've raised four kids, so I recognize that energy. The dad's thinking that laying the baby down without waking her means he's won at life. But he doesn't know life is a rigged game.
I don't know what she's planning, but it looks important, so I'll just watch quietly. -probably the baby
I totally get that feeling. You try to get them to sleep for hours, then find out they were awake the whole time, or they wake up at the slightest change. I checked whether mine were asleep in the wall mirror, since that was the only way to avoid waking them. Then the mission impossible of getting them into bed begins...
