Hi, I'm Becky. I just moved to the Philippines about a week ago. I need some advice. I have a serious heart condition, so I'm looking for good health insurance.
Many replies said that pre-existing heart conditions are barely covered by private insurance, or the premiums are very expensive. Some suggested signing up for the Philippine national health insurance (PhilHealth) as an alternative. However, others countered that the PhilHealth Z benefit package doesn't apply to foreigners.
Oh my god, if you have a 'major heart problem,' why did you come to the Philippines? You know it's hot and humid here, right? And that the ambulance service isn't really that reliable either? You know most foreigners go back to the States when they get seriously ill, right? So...
Definitely sign up for PhilHealth. It gives you basic coverage here.
I don't think a pre-existing condition would be covered.
