Can you convert your driver's license on a tourist visa? I was just told I can't. Is it just a matter of going to a different LTO, or is that really how it is? *I'm in Manila.
It turns out it was just that small office I went to. Thank you all for your kind help. I really appreciate it.
Some offices will do it, most won't. Simple as that😝
Once you've extended and gotten your ACR card, you can do it at the Quezon City LTO
Do it at the main office on East Avenue, Quezon City
Yes, you can. Bring all your tourist visa receipts from BI, your international driving license and your passport. Photocopy everything. Go to the nearest LTO branch, pay for the medical and fill out the form, and in under an hour you'll have your Philippine license. It costs 850 pesos plus 500 for the medical.
Technically, according to the LTO website, you need to have been in the country for 30 days AND have at least 6 months left on your current visa. Of course, this is the Philippines, so a little grease for a fixer and you're all set. Things were simpler back in the day. Bank accounts and licenses were easy. Now that I've gone legit, it's easy.
You're on a tourist visa, why convert your license 😏
