LTO Announces Renewal Schedule for Licenses and Vehicle Registrations Expiring July–October — No Penalties Within the Period
📌 The Land Transportation Office (LTO) announced on Tuesday, November 3 that it has ended the validity extension for driver's licenses, vehicle registrations, and other documents that expired in July–October 2026, and has set penalty-free renewal periods by month of expiration. Those expiring in July–August must renew from November 3 to December 29.
■ What's Changing
· This follows Memorandum Circular MVL-2026-5523, and covers vehicle registrations, driver's and conductor's licenses, student permits, and medical certificates.
· Expiring July–August → Tuesday, November 3, 2026 to Tuesday, December 29, 2026
· Expiring September → Tuesday, December 1, 2026 to Friday, January 29, 2027
· Expiring October → Monday, January 4, 2027 to Friday, February 26, 2027
· The LTO said that "late fees and penalties will be waived for those who renew within the set schedule." It explained that the extension is ending because the problems with its computer system (LTMS) have been resolved, and that the periods were staggered to prevent overcrowding at its offices.
■ Tips for Residents and Travelers
· If your license or vehicle registration expired in July–August, you must renew by December 29 to avoid penalties.
· Offices may get crowded, so go early in the period.
