Hi everyone!

I'm leaving Canada and moving to the Philippines with my son on January 15, 2027. (We plan to stay anywhere from 3 to 18 months. I have a lot of travel experience.)

At first I'm looking for a 2-bedroom condo or bungalow where we can settle in comfortably. Price isn't a big concern.

If the weather cooperates, we'll spend our days surfing, fishing, diving, and riding e-bikes.

If needed, I'm also thinking of flying to some of the popular spots for island hopping.

Does anyone have recommendations for good areas, places available right now, or someone who could guide us with this?

Update, October 27: Siargao Island looks like it will be our home base. What do you think?

Thanks in advance, and safe travels! 💕

If surfing is your top priority, head to the east coast. There are surf spots on Palawan's east coast too, and people say it's the most beautiful of all the islands.

Steve, before you get too caught up in all the great experiences, take some time to adjust to the climate... so you or your son don't end up in the hospital and ruin the trip! It'll be very different from Canada!!! ... 😁

Fellow Canadian here. You can start in Iloilo. I live on Guimaras Island and in Bacolod City. DM me if you need help. My son and his wife are planning to move to the Philippines for good in 2028 and live in Don Salvador.

So you're just moving there without ever having been?
