Hello, I'm Ken, and I'm planning to move to Roxas City in the Philippines. I've heard there is a VA (Veterans Affairs) medical center in Manila, and my disability rating is 90 percent. I'd like to transfer my medical records to a healthcare facility there and wanted to know the address of the VA medical center. Alternatively, can I register with the VA center after I arrive in the Philippines? I would really appreciate any information you can share.
• Type of facility: Manila VA Outpatient Clinic (OPC) • Location: US Embassy Sheffron Compound, 1501 Roxas Blvd, Pasay, Metro Manila • Inpatient care: No inpatient, emergency care, major surgery, or overnight admissions • Services offered: Internal medicine, mental health, specialty care, lab tests, X-ray, pharmacy, and telehealth for service-connected conditions • Foreign Medical Program (FMP): Inpatient care, emergency treatment, and services the clinic doesn't provide can be handled through the VA's Foreign Medical Program, limited to service-connected conditions
Don't expect too much. You can think of the facilities as roughly on par with a well-equipped urgent care clinic in the US.
They only help with service-connected (S/C) disabilities. This VA wasn't built for people like us, it was built for Filipinos. Seriously...
Hello Kenneth Cupp, welcome to Roxas City, the seafood capital of the Philippines and home of "The Canadian Beaver," the official hangout of our expat group. I think you'll like it here.
