KAI Official Confirms Modification to Fit Sniper Targeting Pods on Philippine FA-50PH Fighters
๐ฐ๐ท๐ต๐ญ | On the 23rd, a KAI official confirmed that Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) has carried out a modification to fit Sniper targeting pods on the Philippine Air Force's 23 FA-50PH Fighting Eagle jets as one example of performance upgrades. Both the current aircraft and the 12 additional new FA-50 Block 70 jets being acquired will be modified to carry the Advanced Sniper targeting pod. The current 11 FA-50s will be upgraded through the FA-50 system upgrade, while the 12 additional new jets will be delivered with new capabilities including the Sniper targeting pod, an AESA radar, an aerial refueling probe, beyond-visual-range air-to-air missiles, and long-range air-to-ground cruise missiles. The first aircraft is scheduled to be unveiled in 2027, and deliveries will begin in 2028.
On the second day, the 22nd, attendees visited the Sacheon Air Show site and watched demonstration flights of domestically built aircraft. On the final day, the 23rd, individual meetings by country and aircraft type are planned to share current issues and hold in-depth discussions.
That day, the KAI official told reporters, "At this meeting, we introduced the case of the Philippine FA-50, modified with the Sniper targeting pod, as one example of performance improvements to domestically built aircraft." He added, "On the final day, the 23rd, we plan to hold individual meetings by country and aircraft type to discuss operational issues and cooperation tasks in detail."
KAI Production & Operations Division Head (Executive Vice President) Song Ho-cheol said, "This meeting was a valuable opportunity to share operating records, improvement cases, and challenges with the countries that operate domestically built aircraft." He added, "By introducing performance improvement cases and strengthening mutual cooperation, we will raise the reliability of domestically built aircraft, and this will serve as a stepping stone for expanding export markets going forward."

I had to check whether I was still in the Ace Combat thread lol
Once the PAF's FA-50s (and the MRFs to come) get targeting pods, the planes the pro-China DDS crowd loves and worships so much are going to end up like this. This is exactly what Taiwan does to aircraft that enter its airspace.
Finally. What kind of MRF can't even do precision laser-guided strikes? If only SNIPER, or even just LANTIRN, had been integrated into the F-50 early on, we could have prevented friendly fire during the Siege of Marawi.
Ahh, just give them to us already!!!!
