Explosion from explosive device picked up by children in Roxas, Isabela — 3 children and others dead, several injured
📌 On the morning of Sunday, October 4, in Barangay Sinamar, Roxas, Isabela, a metal object picked up and played with by children exploded, killing and injuring several people, including 3 children. Among the dead children was an 8-year-old 3rd-grade elementary student, and police are investigating the type and origin of the explosive.
■ Incident Details
· The explosion occurred on the morning of October 4 in the Raniag area of Barangay Sinamar.
· Initial investigations indicate that children found a metal object and played with it before it exploded. A witness stated that they saw children walking down the street, and after a loud explosion, the children were lying on the ground.
· The number of casualties varies by news report. Inquirer reported that 4 people—3 boys and an 85-year-old grandmother—died and 4 were injured, while the Pilipino Star Ngayon - Philstar Filipino edition reported that 3 children died and 5 were injured, including an 85-year-old grandmother.
■ Investigation & Current Status
· The victims were rushed to the Manuel A. Roxas District Hospital, but 3 children died at the hospital.
