Something you hear again and again: when you or someone in your family gets sick, you usually go broke.
Not only that, you usually end up borrowing money from everyone who has any to spare just to pay for treatment.
In the end you're left with nothing but debt, bankrupt and unable to pay anything back.
Why throw your whole life away on treatment that doesn't even have clear results?
The Philippine healthcare system is hopelessly broken.
Agreed. You end up getting vet-level care. The Philippines is full of quacks.
So what's your point? Did you think healthcare would be free if you moved to the Philippines? You picked the wrong continent.
Easy to say. If my daughter were sick, trust me, I'd go bankrupt to save her. Otherwise I'd have to live with the regret of not doing everything I could, including going bankrupt. If you're talking about how messed up the Philippine healthcare system is, then yeah, I feel the same. Just don't blame people who go bankrupt trying to save someone they love. That's a totally immature way of thinking.
I live in BGC and the hospital I go to feels just like the US. They even give you tea and coffee while you wait.
