Our cat also got stuck behind the TV last night. She doesn't like backing out and insists on going forward all the way.

It depends on the cat. My dad once put a sock on our cat's head, and she didn't stop backing up. It was funny for a moment, but when she backed up so far she fell off the sofa, we both felt bad. It never happened again, but whenever he just approached with the sock, she bolted out of the room at full speed.
