Hi everyone!
I arrived in Dumaguete a week ago, and at least for a foreigner, it's hard to find events or ways to socialize here. People are nice, but it's not easy to connect.
I'm not the type who can just walk into a bar alone and make friends on the spot.
Is there anyone around 25 to 45 (roughly my age) who has lived here as an expat and can share their experience? :D
Thanks so much for your help

You can join pickleball groups, or just order a beer anywhere you hear someone singing. I'm sure Filipinos will talk to you, and you can make friends

Picture the most boring place on earth. It's only half as boring as Dumaguete

Coming to the Philippines, I didn't look for or expect any expats. Soโ€ฆ if you need to find them, then look. Personally, I don't believe people come here looking for expats to chat with. If that's what you want, then stay in your own country.

I like how you say "I don't want to meet friends in bars" and then everyone says go to a bar. When you live overseas, white guys stand out, so you can strike up a conversation anywhere. My friends came from this group (a guy with baby questions), two guys I met at the supermarket on different days, and a guy I met picking up takeout at a restaurant. In America I don't talk to random guys my age. Eh... In the Philippines you're both novelties. One tip. Please don't ask any guy from England how his team did recently in the World Cup. Not a good conversation starter. Welcome, and enjoy.
