Has anyone here traveled to Africa?
Most of the expats I've met complain about the Philippines, but I feel like they've only ever been to the Philippines and the US, lol. Once you've been to Africa, the Philippines starts to look like paradise.
Why compare a single country to an entire continent? Africa is huge.
My hometown is in South Africa, and in terms of safety, the Philippines feels like paradise to me. After a few months, the variety of groceries and food got a bit tough, but that might be because I live in a small town.
Honestly, it's a pretty dumb comparison. A much better question would be how the Philippines stacks up against other Southeast Asian countries. Just the terrible food alone makes me pass. Cambodia, Vietnam, and Thailand are way better.
I was stationed in Djibouti for a year and had a good time.
