Looks like this person won't be going hunting ever again
The deer seem to keep staring off into the distance in the same direction. Maybe there's a bigger threat nearby than you.
'Phew. The guy with the gun will protect me from that giant bear...'
'While this slow decoy keeps the predator busy, I'm getting out of here...'
'You don't have to outrun the bear. You just have to outrun your friend.' *Bye, buddy!
This might sound ridiculous, but it's more likely that the deer knows that person. Prey animals don't run toward a less dangerous predator, they just flee in a panic. The only times a deer does this are when it knows the person, or when it has never seen or smelled a human before. It's far more likely the deer knows them. Edit: I know, I know, I ruined the fun. Sue me. Edit 2: Oh my god, isn't this made with AI and run through a crappy pixel filter to make it look real? We're doomed.
That deer is telling us there's something in those woods scarier than a gun.
There's a story among Native peoples. If prey runs to a hunter for protection, it means the hunter isn't the biggest threat, and there's something bigger and worse nearby.
Seeing them that fearless, I'd have worried they had some kind of disease.
Well, zombie deer are a real thing, so maybe?
I'm not a deer hunter, but I know a lot of people who are, and they'd all keep hunting even after something like this. They love deer and the outdoors, they pay to maintain and improve habitat, and they understand that hunting helps keep deer populations stable and healthy. Plus, they eat what they catch. I couldn't shoot a deer myself, but I'm not bothered at all by the people who do. Oh, and deer jerky is seriously delicious.
