I'm Filipino and 55 years old. I married an American man, who is a civilian now, and we separated in 1999. My son is already 35. My ex-husband never brought us to the United States, though my son did get child support. Maybe because we don't know much, I don't know how my son or I can get to his father, and his father now has a disability. My son has the right to go to the US where his father lives, but my ex-husband keeps saying he has no money. Can anyone here help with how my son can join his father or go where he lives? I'm just looking for my son's rights as an American too.

Your son is an adult, meaning he's over 18. His father has no legal obligation to help him. Your son should focus on his US citizenship. 1) Did you and his father file a Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA) for him? Many of us have filed a CRBA, and you get the US passport at the same time. Was your son ever issued a US passport? The CRBA application has to be submitted before his 18th birthday. 2) What if your son has no CRBA? If he got US citizenship at birth through his father, he can apply for a US passport. You'll need some help gathering the evidence. Would his father help you gather documents? Answer those two questions and we can work out what to do next. I'm a moderator of this group. If he signed the birth certificate, then your son is a US citizen. If he didn't, you have no claim, since your son is already an adult. Did you get child support when he was young? It ends at 18. If you have a relative or friend willing to put your son up when he gets to the US, all he needs is a passport and a plane ticket. Life is tough in America these days too. I hope your son has skills or education so he can make it if he goes to the US.
She's looking for her free ride to the USA through her son. She says as much in her post when she says 'we.' If he'd wanted his son there, he'd have tried to get him there at least 15 or so years ago. Seems like you're pushing yourself and your son on your ex when he doesn't want it. Let it be.
Please say specifically what you're trying to achieve. You just want your son to be able to live in the United States? Are you trying to get child support? Or is there more? At his age he could maybe do something extra online to make money.. especially in the Philippines? There's a lot of interest in that right now. A one-way ticket isn't that expensive. Tour guide or something??
He's 35
