Drift isn't a big deal.
In automotive engineering, I understand this isn't considered optimal.
The technical term is 'Rapid Unplanned Disassembly,' or RUD.
I don't get why people are criticizing this. This is literally a skid pan, not a regular road. That's exactly what a closed course is for.
Teasing Ford Ranger owners is an Australian tradition.
Wait, what happened?
The tire blew out and the paint got stripped off because of the air pressure.
No, the tire blew because of speeding. Off-road tires have quite low speed ratings. It was spinning so fast that all that energy got transferred as the tire flew off and tore the body apart, and the rear quarter panel got thrown off. It's really dangerous, someone in the crowd could have died.
Off-road tires have quite low speed ratings, some only go up to 130 mph (about 210 km/h). They have almost no grip, and if the gearing is just right, the wheel speed can easily exceed that rating and blow out.
Wow, I had no idea something like this could happen... the damage is massive.
