Crazy world
American women spend money to get darker, while Filipina women spend money to get lighter.
The funny thing is, both are chasing someone else's idea of beauty.
There's an entire industry making money by convincing women their natural skin color isn't good enough.
And here's the real irony: too much tanning damages your skin, while the glutathione injections sold for whitening can carry serious health risks.
If you ask me, the most beautiful skin color is the one you were born with.
What's going on?
😊
To all you Pinays who think lighter skin is more attractive, remember that beauty standards differ depending on where you are in the world. Some women like lighter skin, but others love having a tan. Every skin tone has its own beauty, so be proud of your natural color.
I've always found this fascinating. I actually think Filipina women look better darker. It's a personal choice of course, but to me they look healthier with their natural color.
West: A tan means you're lounging by the pool instead of sitting in an office. Asia: Pale skin means you're sitting in an office instead of working in a rice field.
I grew up in the Philippines, and when I applied for jobs some of the requirements said 'fair complexion' 🙄🙄🙄 Honestly, in the Philippines if you're dark you're ugly 🙄🙄🙄
That's human nature: Wanting what we don't have, and having what we don't want. Look at the expats in the Philippines: Poor guys from the USA move to the Philippines for a cheaper life, and poor Filipinos dream of going to the USA to work and make money.
I think we'd better mind our own business and let them choose and let them glow. Don't judge other people's choices, just master your own joy.
Three centuries of slavery will do that to you. The brutal Spaniards didn't just colonize us, they made us worship the most perfect white skin: Mother Mary. For centuries.
