Gandhi lost one of his shoes while boarding a train, and since there was no way to find it, he quickly threw the other shoe down next to the first one, so whoever picked them up would end up with a proper pair. But even Gandhi would surrender to this guy. He went out of his way to bring a second bag just so the kid would have a matching pair of bags!

This reminds me of a joke. A rich man saw a poor family eating grass by the roadside, so he had his driver stop, put them all in the car, and promised to take them to his summer house and feed them. When they kept thanking him, he replied, "Don't mention it, the grass in my yard was getting long anyway."
