Police Arrest Motorcycle Taxi Driver, Seize 41 kg of Shabu Worth ₱278.8 Million in Mabolo, Cebu City

📌 On the morning of October 11 (Sunday), a 30-year-old habal-habal (motorcycle taxi) driver was arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by the PDEA Central Visayas Office on Arca Street in Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City. Forty-one vacuum-sealed packs of suspected shabu (methamphetamine), weighing approximately 41 kg (estimated street value of about ₱278.8 million), were seized.

■ Details of the Operation
· PDEA Central Visayas Office (PDEA-7) carried out the operation jointly with the PDEG Special Operations Unit, the Cebu City Police Station 4, and other units.
· The suspect is a 30-year-old man residing in Barangay Basak Pardo, Cebu City.
· In addition to the drugs, the buy-bust money, a mobile phone, and a vehicle (a Toyota RAV4, according to Daily Tribune) were also seized.

■ Investigation and Current Status
· The suspect is being held at PDEA-7 and is expected to be charged with violations of Section 5 (sale) and Section 11 (possession) of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act (RA 9165).
· According to GMA News, authorities conducted surveillance for more than a month and believe the suspect was able to distribute about 5 to 10 kg per week, mainly in Cebu.
· Authorities said this is one of the largest seizures in Central Visayas.

· Do not accept bags or parcels from people you do not know. Under the Philippine Dangerous Drugs Act, sale and possession can carry penalties up to life imprisonment.
