Can an introvert live in the Philippines?
Especially in the provinces (rural areas). Everyone says you should blend in with the locals, but I'm 188cm (6'2") and a white American, so how is that even possible? Is the best approach just to embrace the culture, go with the flow, and stay outgoing and friendly? I'd appreciate any thoughts.
It is not hard to live here without caring what other people think.
People will want your money, and women will talk to you.
I lived there throughout the 80s and had the same personality. Locals all love singing and dancing. I remember the first baptism party I went to in Cebu, there was a karaoke machine and men were fighting over the microphone like it was a crack pipe. If you join in they love it, but if you do not, it is no big deal.
