$60 a night in Angeles City — a condotel with pool and kitchen next to Candy Palace, plus Agoda booking tips

In one line
A look at a condotel near Walking Street in Angeles City for just under $60 a night, plus tips on having a backup plan when you book through Agoda.

💡 Key takeaways

[The property]
• In the auto-captions the name sounds like "Alicia Condotel" — check the video for the exact name.
• It's mid-range at just under $60 a night (at the time of filming).
• Google rates it two stars, but with 10 years of experience in Angeles the host would give it three and a half.
• It has Wi-Fi and a swimming pool and comes furnished with plates, a stove, a refrigerator and furniture, so you can move in straight off the plane.

[Location]
• Close to Walking Street, right next to Candy Palace and Prime Asia Hotel, with Candy Tower 3 less than a block away.
• Those neighboring buildings welcome the public to eat and drink and have rooftop views and air-conditioned lobbies, he says.

[Price comparison]
• The host believes most male travelers spend around $50 a night, and says $20-a-night rooms can compare with $50 ones.
• Some travelers stay a week at a $20-a-night place, move to another hotel for a week, and sometimes stay a month, he says.

[Booking tips]
• Use Agoda to compare nightly, weekly and monthly rates for the best price.
• Pick two or three places you like, book only one, and keep the others in mind as backups.
• The host once had an Agoda payment fail because his credit card balance was too low; he didn't check his email and arrived at the hotel with no room. In that case, just rebook on Agoda with Wi-Fi and a working card, he says.
• The host feels many hotels in Angeles are noisy.

Never Agoda for me. My bank card always gets flagged when they want verification through a US number, which I can't use in the Philippines.
