Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings
I'm going to be in the Philippines for 4 months. I'll be hopping around several islands and spending a month on Panay. Are there meetings, or how can I find them?
I managed to quit drinking here. 29 months now.
Really hard to find, and honestly you won't understand any of it unless you speak Tagalog or Taglish. Your best bet is their Discord. It's easy to find and they hold several meetings a day. In this time zone, though, none of them will fall around noon or the afternoon.
Yes, there are meetings. They're hard to find and not as reliably listed as in the US. I've only been to one, in CDO on Mindanao, and it was pretty nice. Start with the AA website, of course, then talk to Filipinos and expats in recovery in those local communities. Also, here in the Philippines Facebook is your best friend for local info, and so are the subreddits for each city. I'm very confident Iloilo will have meetings. Good luck.
You'd be the only one getting the contact details, and then they wouldn't be anonymous anymore. Besides, spending that long in the Philippines without drinking is strange. What were you planning to do, anyway?
