My 80-year-old neighbor bought me a bumper sticker, saying, "People need something to look at, not that dirt you never wash off."
Even with the November gales coming early, this should help.
The legend lives on.
Down from Chippewa,
on the big lake they called Gitche Gumee,
The lake, it is said, never gives up her dead
"When supper time came the old cook came on deck, saying, 'Fellas, it's too rough to feed ya.' At 7 PM, a main hatchway caved in, he said, 'Fellas, it's been good to know ya.'" And "Does anyone know where the love of God goes when the waves turn the minutes to hours?" A damn heartbreaking view.
Fun fact: The band originally didn't plan to put this song on the album. They recorded one take, and the engineer gave a copy to a record label executive, who loved it so much he insisted it go on the album. They tried countless other takes but never liked any of them as much as the first. They couldn't recreate the magic and energy of that first take. So the version that went down in history is the very one from the first time the band played the song.
That's how you do passive-aggressive!
Such a treasure of a neighbor.
