I am a 64-year-old woman and plan to retire next year and live in the Philippines. When I retire around June 2027, I will have Medicare and TriCare. Does TriCare fully cover me in the Philippines? I am a widow and would like to reconnect with my roots. Are there any organizations or groups for active seniors in Manila? I am active, I love travel and exercise, and I work out every day as part of my routine. I would appreciate it if those who are currently in the Philippines could share their experiences and offer advice. Thank you.
No, TRICARE pays up to 75%. You still have to pay the fees and deductibles yourself. You need to submit a TRICARE authorization form. At facilities like Medical City in Pasig, they sometimes handle advance payment with TRICARE once you've met your deductible for the year. To keep TRICARE, you also have to keep Medicare.
I'm a dual-citizen single retiree, born and raised in the Philippines. I visit the Philippines every year and stay up to 11 months at a time. I want to see my friends and live the Filipino way while I'm still healthy. Living here is comfortable, and I enjoy it. Filipino people are friendly, so I'm not lonely and have fun. As I get older, though, I worry about my health. I live in a province and my house is nice, but in an emergency I need someone nearby who can rush me to the hospital. Local hospitals don't have enough equipment or facilities. It's an hour by plane to Manila. That's my only worry.
If you're traveling alone as an older person, just remember not to trust anyone! There are a lot of scammers who act like nice people and then take advantage of you or rob you later.. Be very careful, some of them work in organized groups.
