My 23-year-old boyfriend had sexual chats with a 14-year-old girl on Instagram and the police (PNP) did nothing
Ugh, I'm honestly speechless. Until now I thought VAWC and the PNP would be on my side about what my 23-year-old boyfriend did last year, having sexual chats with a 14-year-old girl on IG. There were explicit photos and videos, the conversation was incredibly filthy, and they were even making plans to meet up (even though he had someone living with him at the time). It was a total mess, and still none of the police officers I talked to (in Cavite) cared. They weren't uncomfortable, shocked, or even flustered. One female officer from the WCPD even said sarcastically, "Do you know you could get sued for this? Isn't that his private life?"
For the record, my boyfriend handed me his phone himself. He told me to look for evidence of whether he was cheating, basically to earn my trust. He gave it to me voluntarily, outside our home. And yet that's what that lazy cop says to me? Right to privacy? That I'd get sued for going through his Gmail linked to that IG account?
That officer also asked me, "So what exactly are you trying to report?" Isn't it obvious? There was a photo of the child's genitals in the chat. There was a video of the child squeezing her breasts. There were tons of breast photos. There were voice messages of her moaning. The nerve of asking "what am I reporting."
Then they told me to go to the cybercrime office. I called that cybercrime office's number. When I told them my report, they said, "What's your relationship to that minor? Are you a relative? Do her parents know? Why are you the one reporting? The parents should be the ones to report, not you." Does that make any sense? Finding out who that minor's parents are is your job. That's your job. Investigating is your job. They also sounded angry, like they could hardly be bothered to deal with my business.
After that I went in person to the PNP front desk and told them my concern, saying they looked like they didn't want to help. The officer there said the same thing. They said it was my boyfriend's private matter so I should give the phone back. They said that even if he deleted the evidence, it wasn't my concern. They said the child's photos might be fake. Might be AI. Might not even be a minor. You're the police, you're the ones who should investigate. What are you doing in there? Growing your bellies and sitting around all day zoning out?
So I just left, since I got nothing out of it. I stopped by the place where my boyfriend is staying and told him I'd been to the PNP. I found out about the minor on Instagram on November 1, and I only just told him now. He went berserk. He threw a tantrum. He screamed at me in the street. He called me a traitor. He asked why I was trying to put him in jail. He called me a bitch. A freak. He said I'm his ex-girlfriend now, that I'm disgusting. It got so loud that we ended up going to the barangay to talk it out.
While I was explaining to the barangay's female officer (VAWC), my boyfriend kept spewing vile remarks, butting in even though he wasn't part of the conversation, kept yelling at me, going on about us having broken up and so on... He did all that even while I was talking to the officer. I got so angry at his vile remarks that I slammed my hand on the desk. And then the officer, who had never once stopped my boyfriend's vile remarks, suddenly got angry at me. She asked why I was being rude, why I was disrespecting her by hitting the desk. I got called out and he didn't.
I showed her the conversation with that minor, but she just said the same things. That only I could get sued over it. That it's my boyfriend's private matter, so why did I go through it? That if I hadn't touched the phone I wouldn't have known anything and I created my own stress. On top of that, she said we weren't even together at the time, so my report isn't valid.
I also showed her that the last conversation between the two of them was in October 2025, but that this March my boyfriend went back into that chat and forwarded the girl's photos to his own account. And that in October 2026 there was a notification in that chat that the disappearing-messages setting had been turned off, which means he went in again. Even so, the officer didn't care. It apparently doesn't bother her at all that my boyfriend keeps going back to look at that child's photos.
I also told that officer that when we went to the hotel on October 15, my boyfriend tried to rape me. I have a line and he knows it. No penetration. No sex. It was clear. I wanted to get married first. And I wanted him to get a vasectomy before that. But he pushed me over and over. He really tried to put it in. The officer said, "Going to the hotel together was your choice. You decided that. And if you're a virgin like you say, that's not what a decent girl would do. Even if he's your boyfriend, why would you go to a hotel with a man?" Even a prostitute has lines and consent, I know that. It was truly disgusting. A female officer in charge of VAWC saying something like that.
There's no hope. I feel like I've been slapped in the face by how rotten the Philippine system is. They say women are protected. Protected where? After we're dead? After we've been raped? After we've gone insane? I'd love to scream at them and curse them out, but of course I'd just get sued for that too.
Karma will take care of it. I hope that someday they (or their daughters) need help, and the very law they just protected betrays them.
Report it to the NBI or another agency. The PNP is useless.
File a complaint with NAPOLCOM (National Police Commission) and shame the cops.
Damn, the police's reaction is worrying. It seems like they're siding with the PDF (slang for pedophile) rather than investigating. I'm so sick of the police. Sick of the government too. I'm sick of the Philippines.
I'm not a lawyer, but I think this would fall under OSAEC (online sexual abuse and exploitation of children).
