Update on my 13A visa application. I applied at the Bacolod Immigration office on September 23, and had the joint interview on September 25. Today, November 5, I just got the call that my visa was approved. From start to finish it took 40 days, not even 6 weeks. Amazing! So as of today, am I finally a permanent resident? I wanted to share my experience and timeline. It was way faster than I expected. Maybe it's because I've lived here for 18 years and have been married for 10? Anyway, it was really great news. Edit: The 13A visa was actually approved on October 19. I just didn't find out until November 5.

At first it's probationary, and when you reapply after 10 months it becomes permanent. Still, that's great, congratulations.

It's a shame the US spouse visa doesn't work like this. I'm a US citizen and a military veteran, and I've been waiting years for my wife's interview.

I'm planning to retire in 2028 and my partner lives in Cebu! If we get married and I live with my partner in Cebu, when and how should I apply for the 13A? Do I need to apply before leaving Australia, or after I get settled here??
