Is it dementia, or is he just a jerk? My late wife had dementia, and I had to put her in a memory care unit at an assisted living home. Back in 2021 in Florida, it cost 5,000 US dollars a month.

Where I live in the province, they bring food to the graves of family members who've passed. I think they call it All Souls' Day.
My wife is originally from Cebu. Her family is wonderful and the birthday parties are fantastic. And no, I don't go around handing out bags of cash. I've tried before to explain why I love the Philippines so much, and mostly failed miserably. It's too hot, it's messy, the bureaucracy is excessive, and there are rabid stray dogs. It's chaotic, the traffic is insane and there's too much petty crime. And yet I love it 🤔 The vibe just makes me feel alive. I'm one of those odd people who loves the food, karaoke and jeepneys. I also like exploring old churches, and there are so many amazing ones (be sure to visit the basilica in Taal). Our neighbors in Cavite (my wife has a terrace house in a subdivision there) are great too. I feel truly part of the community, and nobody has ever asked me for anything. If anything, they're always offering me food or drinks. I also love the beaches and the countryside around Baguio, and we've had great holidays in Subic (a friend from Wales has a place there). Mindoro is just a few hours away, with beaches, waterfalls and scenic drives. My wife prefers Australia and has a good job here, so we split our time between Australia and the Philippines. To sum it up, sometimes I can't wait to leave, but the moment I've left I want to start planning our next trip. Sorry for rambling.
REDDIT REVEALS NBI AND PNP TRIED TO GET POSTS ON GOVERNMENT CORRUPTION TAKEN DOWN In its transparency report for July to December 2025, Reddit said the Philippine government tried to have several posts removed from its social media platform. According to the report, Reddit received 12 removal requests from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) seeking the deletion of 74 posts. Reddit said it did not remove the posts, which reportedly contained allegations against certain government officials and well-known personalities. Reddit stressed that it does not take down content criticizing public figures or alleging corruption. “None of the reported content was removed, as there were no Reddit Rules violations and the content consisted of criticism of public figures, claims of their involvement in corruption, and general commentary on newsworthy events,” Reddit said. Reddit is currently under threat after the government demanded it set up an office in the Philippines or face a halt to its operations in the country.
Usually about a week
Boracay is a tourist spot for a week at most. In 10 days you'll have seen and explored everything. Also, prices are really high. The number of visitors to the island is capped. The island is tiny. Three months there? I wouldn't recommend it. Especially if you've never been. My advice: go for a week and see how you feel.
There's a 100% chance she will NOT get a US tourist visa next year. Not even a remote chance. They want someone who owns property, has money, can prove a real job with regular pay, has children or a husband in the Philippines, and strong ties to her country. She has none of that. Her tourist visa interview will literally take two minutes; they won't even ask her anything since she has nothing to submit, and they'll stamp her a no. Don't make a tourist visa visit the goal. She could come on a K-1 visa, but there's a 0% chance she comes as a tourist.
China Bank lets you take out 40k
There are too many variables to give a straight answer, but I'd lean toward no. 1. For a B1/B2 she'll need to prove strong ties to the Philippines: family, a job, a business, school or something similar. Since she's lived in the US for five years, I'm guessing she doesn't have ties that would count. 2. Even a suspicion that her ‘tourism’ means being with a romantic partner is a huge red flag. 3. She'll need to convince them she can support herself during a long trip in the US. If she's wealthy herself or has a rich family, maybe that works. Otherwise, getting support from you is itself a red flag. 4. The visa is one thing; US border inspection is another. The stories need to line up, especially if you want to use the visa a second time or avoid being refused entry on the first trip.
All he had to do was take a $200 round-trip flight somewhere, and now he has to pay a huge fine. And the longer you wait, the bigger it gets, because it's charged by the day. He needs to get it together, pay the fine, leave, and hope they let him back in (they probably will).

I hate karaoke with every cell in my body, but if you live here you have to put up with it! 🤣
People at the very back rushing to the front happens on planes too. The two minutes you save in total won't make your luggage come out any faster. I've seen it in PH, China and Mexico. #3 happens everywhere outside Western countries. Not everyone gets it, though, so either she's super hot or people think you're five leagues below her.
Filipino here. It's basically what you pay to sit up in the sky and look down on the low-quality life on the ground. 😂

Palawan usually isn't affected much by typhoons. That doesn't mean they never come. Palawan also gets a lot more rain than other places, so that's something else to consider. If you live on the western side of the Philippines, you're generally sheltered from typhoons. I'm not saying you won't get them, just that they're not nearly as bad as on the east coast.
I wouldn't date a girl like that — it's like you have to train her like a cat. Have some respect
Apart from the 'hospitality, friendliness and joy', life is pretty much the same for locals. You only have a better time because your money goes a lot further here. Locals earning local wages are as miserable as you are, just without public healthcare.

Don't buy a condo!!! The market is about to collapse... Rent. You won't regret it.
'I met a Florida man' — I couldn't read past this point lol
Bogo looks beautiful, but a new fault line was discovered nearby last year and there's been a lot of earthquake activity there in recent years. Personally I wouldn't buy there even if the deal were amazing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2025_Cebu_earthquake
