This is a Korean snack bar at the corner where Amur St and Volga St meet, in the Riverside complex of Friendship Korea Town in Angeles. Its English name is Jjanggoo Korean Snack Bar. The red-and-yellow sign shows the Korean name 'Jjanggoo Korean Snack Bar' alongside the English 'JJANG GOO', so it is easy to spot from a distance. The menu runs from snack-bar staples like tteokbokki, gimbap, and fried snacks to meal dishes like rice bowls and fried rice, and you can eat in or have it delivered.
Inside, it is a cozy space closer to a Korean neighborhood snack bar than a large restaurant. It has bright walls, wood-tone tables, green chairs, and air conditioning, and it is described as a comfortable place to sit and eat even on hot days. The atmosphere is relaxed, whether you are grabbing a light meal alone or sharing several dishes with a group.
Tteokbokki in mild, medium, or spicy is ₱190, and rosé tteokbokki in mild or medium is ₱220. Gimbap is ₱160 for the basic, ₱200 for tuna, spicy beef, or stir-fried spicy pork (jeyuk), and ₱210 for bulgogi. A 2024 blog post praised the gimbap here and singled out the jeyuk gimbap. The assorted fried snacks come in three sets, A, B, and C (₱230, ₱350, and ₱500). Meal dishes include omurice and kimchi fried rice (₱280), pork cutlet (₱300), jeyuk rice bowl (₱340), bibimbap and tteok-mandu soup (₱350), and bulgogi rice bowl (₱370). Side dishes such as sundae (blood sausage) (₱400) and rolled omelet (₱300) are also available.
Several reviews say the spicy tteokbokki is quite hot and left them with an upset stomach. The mild and medium versions, on the other hand, were reported to be fine, so if you are sensitive to spicy food, it is better to start with mild. Among the fried snacks, several reviews recommend the fried chili peppers. One review said the assorted fried snacks were too much for one person, and another said prices are higher than in Korea.
It is listed on Google Maps as a delivery restaurant. According to a 2024 blog post, it ran its own delivery around Angeles and Clark and also took advance orders for gimbap in the early morning and morning, as well as group orders. A different post from the same year says you could also order through Let's B, a Korean delivery app. One 2024 post notes that it is inside the Jangbogo Supermarket and hard to see from the street, so it is best to check the location on the map before heading over. Miss Jin Sundae, Kann meatshop Restaurant, and Robinsons Easymart are about 50 m away, and Irooda and Mandu Bunsik K-street are about 100 m away. You can order or make inquiries by phone and KakaoTalk.
