Can I work a normal corporate job on US hours year-round with the natural disaster risk? (Cebu or Manila)

I'm trying to figure out how realistic it is to do a normal corporate "meeting job" on what would be night-shift hours in the Philippines. The longest I could go without working if the internet or power suddenly went out is maybe 2 days. I can't be without stable internet any longer than that.

Is this doable at all, or would I need some crazy huge power banks and Starlink and all that even if I live in a modern high-rise? (Also, I don't think Starlink is even easy to aim from a high-rise?)

Would it be better to just not be in the Philippines during certain months with this kind of job? Or maybe go to Davao in November and December and I'd be safe?

Any advice appreciated

I worked a US night-shift corporate job for three years while living in Manila, and it was totally doable year-round as long as you pick the right building and have a simple backup plan. In Makati I had 500Mbps PLDT fiber, and later in Eastwood 300Mbps Red Fiber. Both were solid most of the time. The internet only went down twice in three years, but when it did, it stayed down for about a week, because local ISPs don't fix things quickly. Instead of stressing, I booked an emergency Airbnb in another area and worked from there until it was fixed. You definitely don't need to spend money on huge power stations or Starlink. What really matters is checking the building's backup power before you sign a lease. My place in Makati only backed up 20 percent of the building plus one outlet for the fridge, while my place in Eastwood backed up the entire building. Starlink is a non-starter anyway, because condo balconies only give you a tiny slice of sky, so the signal keeps dropping. If you're trying to stay under your employer's radar, spend that money on proper network privacy instead. I put StarVPN residential on a GL.iNet GL BE3600 router and it worked great. Make sure you turn on the kill switch; it saved me a few times when the VPN dropped out of nowhere. As for typhoon season, it never really affected my work. Storms and heavy rain never knocked out power or internet in either condo, so there was no real reason to leave the country during those months

In a condo with backup generators you'll be fine. I think Manila is less exposed to typhoons than Cebu. If you go to the province, then yes, you'll need a power bank and Starlink to be safe

I lived in Mactan for several years, working UK and Canada hours during that time. You just need to be in a decent condo or subdivision with minimal brownouts, and have mobile data as a backup for a couple of hours if you get hit. The mobile carriers all have super-fast 5G, and PLDT fiber was super quick. I'd be inclined to get Starlink if you're not in a city. If a major typhoon like Odette is coming, just head to a different region before it lands, and if it's a bad one, fly somewhere else for a week or two.
