Why is the Philippines so expensive?
I ordered some food for my girlfriend and it came to 438 pesos
In Europe that's basically a takeout meal, or a meal at McDonald's, and the quality is way better
In Vietnam food is like 50 cents to 1 dollar

Hmm. I just paid 3,000 pesos for a decent dinner in Frankfurt. In Manila a good restaurant would be maybe 800 to 1,000 pesos, and a simple one around 500. That's cheap to me.
OFWs. The country would crumble without all the OFW money coming in. Some things are cheaper, some are premium-priced.
Decent food is overpriced compared to the rest of Southeast Asia. No idea why.
I'm one of those people who'd say... quit your whining. Jeez. So, quit your whining, jeez. And YES, it's okay to call someone complaining about 5 bucks poor, and if they aren't poor, they're penny-pinchers to the extreme.
It's definitely gotten a lot more expensive over the 7 years I've been going back and forth. Go to SM and 100 dollars is gone fast
The agricultural sector is undeveloped. Hardly any food is grown in the country. Everything's imported, even freaking rice.
