Aircon costs

I tested going ONE MONTH without AC

July usage 357 kWh
August usage 237 kWh

I saved about 1,100 pesos in total, or 17 USD

Context
Single guy
60 sqm condo
2 AC units
I only use dehumidify mode at 28°C
Bedroom only at night, door closed
Living room only around midday, all other doors closed

So based on my test, running AC doesn't cost that much more.

The actual electricity charge isn't much, it's all the other charges added on that make up a big chunk of the bill..

Put two months of bills side by side and compare what each line item costs.

FYI, this was before the rate reduction the government set for August and September.

Do another check. Flip your breaker so the whole place is off. Check your meter. Wait an hour. Check it again. If it moved, someone else is using your electricity too.

I get that you're single. Spend a little more. Push that aircon bill up with some friendly company. You know, chill... watch some Netflix with a special friend. Order some takeout. Next post, I want to see you spending more to cool the place for two, not one solo guy.

Try turning ALL the AC off and running a fan (even for 24 hours) - you'll notice a BIG difference

Depends on which AC you have. Whether it's an inverter or not.

Doesn't matter. If you're a renter, you have no options. Even if you used candles and a Zippo lighter for all your lighting and cooking, you'd still get a bill in the mail. Guaranteed.

YES 👍 for us it's ₱60 a night = ₱1,800 a month (not too bad, right) to sleep 🛌 in comfort
