Any audiophiles here?

I'm thinking about shipping my favorite reference speakers from the US to the Philippines.

Of course, everything about it worries me haha.

Any other audiophile expats want to weigh in?

I've looked everywhere, and I can't find any audio gear or speakers here that even come close to what I'm used to.

I can't even find legit imports of quality gear.

I'm not talking about crazy speakers like Martins or B&Ws. Just your 'average' audiophile speakers.

In my experience, the best audiophile stores are in Shangri-La Plaza in Mandaluyong. There's also a small one on the top floor of Power Plant Mall in Makati.

I gave up and went the high-end headphone route. The rooms here are too small for proper room acoustics. I was spoiled by my big acoustically treated home theater back home. In a small untreated room, everything except headphones has too many problems, no matter how much money you spend.

You might be better off just buying quality secondhand speakers locally or picking up good used ones in Hong Kong. Sonus Faber or Magico are the 'crazy' speakers.

Thanks. I'll check those out too. Funny that I couldn't find this info myself on Google... I'd really rather sell my pair of Polk L800s than import two speakers weighing 300 lbs that will almost certainly get damaged on the slow boat...
