It doesn't come up much, but honestly, of all the places I've lived, Filinvest City/Westgate in Alabang feels really safe. I even went jogging through the streets at night. It's very corporate without much soul, but if safety is your top priority I'd strongly recommend it.

It's more a combination of location and common sense. BGC counts as one of the upscale areas that should be safe, but that doesn't mean you can get careless and expect everything to be fine. Same goes for Makati. Personally, I chose to live somewhere without a big concentration of foreigners, but only 15 minutes from BGC and Makati, without giving up much in quality of life. I'm in year 3 now and haven't had any mishaps. The one time I got careless, my phone was poking slightly out of my right pocket on a packed MRT. I let my guard down for a few seconds and it was gone. Basically, if you always think like this: 'If there's the slightest chance something can go wrong, it will go wrong.' you'll end up avoiding unnecessary risk and will most likely be fine. Of course, that doesn't mean you should go live in the ghetto either 😅
