Hi, asking the experts here. About 12 years ago I worked a few years in the Philippines for a local company. I've still got some pesos sitting in an SSS account, and I'm back in Australia now.

Is there any way to get at that money and move it into my super (retirement) account in Australia? I can probably dig up my old SSS number, but when I looked into it before, it wasn't clear how to do what I want. Thanks in advance

You might get it at 60. Ask them and check your contributions.

Local SSS? You need 10 years, or 120 contributions, to get anything

Hi! As far as I know, you can't transfer SSS straight into an Aussie super. Australia doesn't treat SSS as a foreign super fund, so it's only payable as pension income. What you can try is claiming a lump sum from SSS on grounds of permanent departure, then putting that money into your super yourself as a non-concessional contribution. You'll probably need to check with SSS whether you still have your old number and whether you're eligible to withdraw. Hope that helps!
