Really short connection in Hong Kong (55 minutes)

I'm heading back to Manila from Chicago tomorrow, and I found a really good flight. It's a direct flight from Chicago to Hong Kong with only a 55-minute connection there. After that it's just a quick two hours from Hong Kong to Manila.

My only worry is that it's the shortest connection I've ever done. There's really no margin for error. But it's Cathay Pacific, and they're highly rated (my first time flying with them).

Has anyone taken this flight? I think I'll be fine. For a connection this easy and a shorter trip, I'm willing to go without my luggage for a day.

You'll be fine. Cathay Pacific is an efficient airline. I just hope your next flight isn't the last one of the day, so if you miss the connection they can put you on the next flight. Otherwise you'll be stuck at the airport until the next morning.

It's tight but doable at HKG as long as there's no delay at all. It's a very, very efficient and modern airport. The terminal is big though, so you might have to run.

Sorry I don't have any advice, but I'm curious how much your flight was, if you don't mind sharing. I usually fly out of Chicago when I go over too

The minimum connection time at that airport is 60 minutes for your kind of itinerary. Sounds like you bought two separate tickets, since they won't issue a ticket with a connection that short. Travel at your own risk. Checked bags make it riskier.

I once flew Cathay from Shanghai to Manila via HKIA. At the plane door a staff member was waiting with a sign with my name on it. She said the connection was tight and walked me through security (a separate entrance) to the departure gate. I had to run a bit. It worked out, and she was sweet.
