Why do guys send money to their girlfriends?

I used to do that with food — 5–7k pesos a month in Foodpanda orders for my girlfriend. Then she told me guys my age send 30–50k pesos just for shopping (they're in their 20s)

I said they're simps with no options back home. And when I said that if we have a kid I'd send the kid about 10k pesos a month, she got upset — but that's already a monthly wage in the Philippines

Why should anyone get a Universal Basic Income from a foreigner just for existing and shopping? This Filipino culture of sending money is so weird

I've already spent thousands of dollars on my girlfriend, and if she says things like that, it feels like none of it made any difference

WTF, get rid of her, dude. If you have a kid lol, why wouldn't you be living with them? Not all Filipinas are like that — you just found one who's only interested in what you contribute financially.

Personally, I don't mind. My wife does so much work at home that she deserves to treat herself once in a while. I'd never send money to help relatives, though — that's a different issue. Like they say: different strokes for different folks, blah blah blah

I've never taken money from a boyfriend and never will. It kind of gives me the ick if we're not engaged or married yet. I did long-distance with a foreigner too, but he only sent flowers and food orders from abroad. I preferred him ordering for me over just handing me money.
