Back in the day I made several port calls in Subic with the Midway battle group. Yes, Subic could absolutely handle the entire battle group! Heck, the bars and bar girls knew our schedule better than we did

Both Thailand and Subic could handle ten times that. On my last carrier group deployment, 30% of the women on the ship got pregnant and were rotated out of their duty stations.

I joined and later retired from the military...... Subic Bay had a legendary reputation as a crazy port of call, and phrases like 'LBFM' and 'Sh*t river' were common. The same went for a lot of military towns in the States and overseas, the so-called 'sailor bars' with plaques and photos steeped in tradition and history. Fayetteville outside Fort Bragg, aka 'Hay Street,' was like Vegas back when the mob ran it. Sin city through and through. The military has gone through a huge cultural shift........ With the big influx of women and married people, changing attitudes toward prostitution, smartphones and social media, and the military being more sensitive than ever about 'optics,' the glory days are a distant memory. There are the security concerns like 'terrorism,' and when I retired back in 2011 they were telling us that paying a woman for services counted as 'human trafficking' and meant an automatic Article 15. It's also worth noting these kids don't drink like we did. They were locked down for years during the pandemic, and they're better educated about the downsides of booze and the like.

Back in the '80s it was crazy. Great bars like the Brown Fox, Rock and Roll in Concert, Airport Disco, FTN Bar, Mariposa restaurant, Peso Jimmies.

Haven't seen any in the bars so far. The malls are packed with them shopping. We'll see tonight. Unlike the Philippines, the girls here aren't even excited. They couldn't care less.
