Import fees for a desktop PC at NAIA airport

Hi all

I'm going to the Philippines for a month around Christmas and want to bring my gaming desktop PC. It's a tower, not a laptop, and will be about a year old by the time I travel.

I'm wondering whether I need to declare it at the airport and pay any fees. I read that I might have to declare that I'll take it back home and pay some kind of deposit. I'm flying into the Philippines through NAIA.

Does anyone have experience with this?

You're WAY overthinking this. Just pack it and come. Nobody cares about your computer, the government included, unless you've got some weird stuff on it.

First, use a proper dedicated case designed for this, with padding you can adjust so it fits nice and snug. If you have an air cooler, I'm guessing it's a big one, so remove it! No issue bringing it in and out. And if you still have your graphics card's original box, take the card out and pack it in that. That's what I do. 👍

Mind the voltage

And before packing, put a piece of masking tape over the power supply cord connector, and another over the power button. Write 'Check 240!' on them. That way you won't plug it in without switching the PSU voltage selector, hear a 'pop' and be instantly sad 😢. You'll switch it before connecting, hit the power button and be happy!

Nah. I always travel with tons of computer gear. As long as it's not for sale and isn't obviously brand-new in its original packaging, you'll be fine.

You should be fine. I brought my PS5 and a bunch of stuff when I came, and nobody said a word about any of it.

You can list it in your eTravel declaration. I did that with my laptop and a few other things. Later, when you go through immigration, you scan the QR code, and it either shows green and you just pass, or you get checked. I think I read that around USD 1,200 of personal effects can be brought in duty-free, but I'm not 100% sure.
